- Said to be of Scottish birth/descent and to have been reared and then come from Londonderry Ireland at the age of 19, settling in Chester, NH
- Often referred to as doctor, on account of preparing drops for "fits."
- Settled on land not granted by the proprietors of Chester near Head's saw mill. He probably had title from the proprietors of Suncook, but he with others was sued.
