Old Litchfield Cemetery, Hampton, Windham Co., CT, USA

In some older records this cemetery was called the Litchfield Yard or the Old Litchfield Yard. Records of this cemetery have often been mistakenly combined with the better known Litchfield Cemetery on Bigelow Road, in Hampton, but it is in fact a different burial ground several hundred feet east and a little north of that cemetery, deep in the woods on private property with limited access, surrounded by tall pines. They were both most likely on the Litchfield farm property, which might be why they were combined together in the Hale Census done in the 1930's.
