• Notes

  Moved to Key West, FL, in about 1885, as publisher and part owner of "The Key West Democrat." Tragedy struck late the following year when an epidemic of yellow fever held Key West in it's grip. Key West was under strict quarantine for three weeks, with no mail in or out. One week after the yellow fever epidemic broke out, he was stricken. A short time later, 8 Jun 1887, he died and one half hour later was buried. He was to have been married the following month. [4]
