All things Military with any connection to our Jameson Family.
It is worth noting that most men in Colonial America, with some exceptions to larger urban areas, belonged to local militias. These were, at least early on, not so much a matter of national issues, but more for local defense, including that of hostile indians, other intruders or even natural threats, such as the flooding or wild animal difficulties. As such, almost all men of these early times had a military involvement which was common in this way, until about the middle 1800's. These militias eventually became what is now the National Guard, even though the makeup and mandate of today's National Guard is more closely aligned with the National Military and is often more thought of as a "reserve" than as local protectors.
