September 1864   Transferred to Company D, 105th Pennsylvania Volunteers[1] - Note: When the men of the 63rd reached the end of their 3 year service, and that unit was mustered out, those that had reenlisted as veteran volunteers for the duration of the war (including Jonathan) were ordered to the 99th. Those soldiers took umbrage at the order. So their officers wrote on their behalf to the War Dept, stating that since the 63rd's relationship with the 99th had not been a good one, and since they had fought alongside the 105th throughout the war and had a close relationship with that unit, they asked to be transferred to the 105th. Every man in the unit signed the petition. Their request was granted and they were all transferred to the 105th where they served until the war's end.[4]
11 July 1865   Mustered Out with Company,[1] soldiers given one month furlough, ending 12 Aug 1865[3]
